Apple says no, and they say if you do you are doing so at your own risk. They say that any printing which occurs while a font is installed in an active document resource fork is likely to cause heap corruption, which is not pretty. They say that the safe and sane thing to do is merely require your user to install your custom font in their Fonts folder. Other developers and have reported error-free operation using fonts installed in the resource fork of their standalone application, as long as no printing occurs. If you choose to experiment with this, be aware that you do so at your own risk and that Apple recommends not doing it.
