LOS ANGELES, August 14, 1997 - Fourth World(TM) began shipping XFin 1.0, a collection of 16 powerful XFCNs (external functions) for performing a variety of financial calculations.
The XFin 1.0 externals, published by Stephane Leys and Paul Zahara, provide capabilities previously found only in spreadsheets and specialized business applications. With XFin, developers working with SuperCard, HyperCard, and other popular authoring tools can create an untapped variety of new business tools.
The 16 externals in the XFin 1.0 collection include:
- FV - calculates the future value of a series of periodic payments such as an annuity, a loan or a lease.
- PV - calculates the present value of a series of periodic payments such as an annuity, a loan or a lease.
- PMT - used to calculate loan and lease repayments, or to calculate the amount needed to invest periodically to achieve a particular amount in the future.
- NPER - calculates the number of periods in a periodic payment stream, such as an annuity, a loan or a lease.
- RATE - used to calculate the effective interest rate of a series of periodic payments such as an annuity, a loan or a lease.
- NPV - calculates the net present value of a cashflow stream at the specified discount rate.
- IRR - calculates the internal rate of return of a series of cashflows.
- EFFECT - converts nominal interest rates to effective rates.
- NOMINAL - converts effective interest rates to nominal rates.
- IPMT - calculates the interest component of a single payment of a periodic payment series.
- PPMT - calculates the principal component of a single payment of a periodic payment series.
- CUMPRINC - calculates the cumulative principal paid between two specified payments in a series of payments.
- CUMIPMT - calculates the cumulative interest paid between two specified payments in a series of payments.
- NumberFormat - provides a wide variety of options for formatting numeric strings.
- NumFormatChars - returns the settings of the numbers control panel.
- StripNumber - converts a formated number into a SuperTalk number with 15 significant digits.
